21.2.2020

Joseph Wiinikka-Lydon
(Centre for Ethics, University of Pardubice)

who will speak on:

"Moral Injury and the Hidden Costs of War"

ABSTRACT: "Moral injury" was coined in psychiatry in the 1990s to describe a form of pain suffered by veterans. More than just traumatic, such suffering seemed to reflect a sense of betrayal and transgression, both done and received, that were severe enough to alter one's sense of self. This talk will explore what moral injury is and how it may affect not only individual sufferers but also wider society.

When: February 12, 2020 from 14:05 till 15:30
Where: Philosophical Faculty UHK, Room #B9
